Most cases and some heat sinks are designed with 80mm or 92mm fans. 120mm fans offer the same airflow at a much lower RPM, resulting in quiet operation. They may also offer much higher airflow at the same RPM, resulting in better cooling. This adapter will allow you to mount a 120mm fan on a place designed for 80mm fans (if room allows).
