80mm Acousti Fan Gasket

80mm AcoustiFan Fan Gasket

This AcoustiFan fan gasket by Acoustiproducts dampens the vibration from your case fan. The AcoustiFan fan gasket is easy to attach underneath the case fan.

Acousti Fan Gasket Features

  • Ultra-soft (unlike similar products) - Shore A 40
  • Not just 1mm thick like other fan gaskets - these are 2.5mm thick!
  • Compatible with virtually all case cooling fans
  • Comes with unique screws and soft silicone washers
  • Quick and very easy to fit (these fan gaskets 'hold onto' the fan whilst fitting them due to a small lip in the gasket design)
  • Can be used with an external fan wire grille, for maximum airflow and minimum wind noise (see below)

80mm Acousti Fan Gasket (Black) Specifications

  • Model: AFG80B
  • Operating Temperature: (-)20 - (+)70°C
  • Softness: Shore A 40° ±5
  • Material: Silicone Rubber (Black)
  • Gasket Thickness: 2.5mm
  • Recommended Compression: 5% of height
  • Pack Weights: 80mm - 29g, 92mm - 32g, 120mm - 41g

Acousti Fan Gasket Fitting Recommendations

The following is an animation showing a vibration-reducing silicone fan gasket fitted to a standard case cooling fan, and fastened into position with a screw and external silicone washer. These fan gaskets are suitable for the vast majority of case designs and fan combinations, as they fit standard fan mounting holes. Slightly lengthened (12mm thread) fan mounting screws are supplied with the fan gaskets and washers. These 80mm fan gaskets can be used with standard PC cooling fans, and not just with AcoustiFan™ quiet case fans.

80mm Fan Gasket Fitting

Quick Fitting Steps

  1. Fit the fan gasket onto the outside of the fan housing (it will stay on the fan)
  2. Position the fan and gasket together against the inside of the case, so that the four mounting holes in the fan and gasket line up to the mounting holes in the case side
  3. Locate the four silicone washers and screws, and fit the washers against the case side, each secured by a screw
  4. Tighten the screws enough to very slightly compress the silicone rubber. Do not over-tighten.

Warning! Please Note: Do not use these gaskets in very high temperature locations inside a PC/Server such as attached to a CPU cooler or GPU heat sinks! These gaskets are designed to be used against case side panels.

Anti-vibration Soft Silicone Fan Gaskets - Black

AFG80B Retail Pack (1 Gasket)

These ultra-soft 80mm fan gaskets are designed to reduce the vibration from PC and server case cooling fans, and maintain a seal between the case side and the fan housing. Each retail pack contains an anti-vibration fan gasket with 4 silicone washers and mounting screws. We believe they are the thickest and most effective available anywhere!

Image showing black PC cooling fan fitted with a soft clear silicone fan gasket. The silicone gasket is 2.5mm thick. Silicone washers and mounting screws are also shown. The gasket screws are long enough to allow the fitting of a fan grille to the outside of the case - which is shown in the foreground.

Effecitive Vibration Reduction

Yes, these are simply the most effective yet!

Why are these silicone fan gaskets especially effective?

Because AcoustiProducts&trade: has not held back on the silicone thickness and the silicone material softness. All gaskets are 2.5mm thick (not just 1mm like alternatives), and Shore A 40 (a great deal softer than others we have tested). The silicone for the gasket is 2.5mm thick, and the silicone for the washer is 2.0mm thick.

AcoustiFan Fan Gasket Advantages

Silicone fan gaskets are truly the 'ultimate in fan noise reduction', because they perform two important tasks:

  • Help to 'seal' the small gap between the fan and the casing/enclosure wall. This improves the efficiency of the fan, by reducing airflow 'feedback' and therefore air pressure losses, and
  • Help to absorb the vibration that otherwise would be transmitted from the fan into the case chassis and case housing.

What is Shore Hardness?

The hardness testing of plastics and rubbers is most commonly measured by the Shore (Durometer) test or Rockwell hardness test. Both methods measure the resistance of plastics toward indentation and provide an empirical hardness value.

Shore Hardness (using either the Shore A or Shore D scale), is the preferred method for rubbers/elastomers. The Shore A scale is used for 'softer' materials like silicone rubbers, while the Shore D scale is used for 'harder' materials.

The Shore hardness is measured with an apparatus known as a Durometer and consequently is also known as 'Durometer hardness'. The hardness value is determined by the penetration of the Durometer indenter foot into the sample. A 'softer' material will have a lower Shore value than a 'harder' material.
