Each of our systems goes through a rigorous burn-in process. We test our computers at 100% load for 24-48 hours to test the thermal and acoustic properties. We aim to ensure proper cooling, highest performance, and the most quiet systems on the market!

This Music Server features a case that is for extremely demanding quiet enthusiasts, who desire a smaller case. This Music Sever includes the Intel's new Solid State Disk Drives! These hard drives are completely silent due to no moving parts. It's pretty darn amazing. The SSD drives can quickly access information and boot-up your software in virtually no time at all. Of course, we offer a few Western Digital quiet hard drives for data backup if you need more room. However if do you have a hard disk put inside the computer it will no longer be silent, merely quiet. If you wish more storage space inside the computer then we would recommend adding another Intel SSD in order to keep it operating silently. If you wish more storage that will remoted outside the computer (say in some other room or closet) please be advised that Goodwin's High End is currently researching and will be testing a solution in order to answer that need shortly.

An Exclusive Audio Card Option
In addition to the quiet computer itself one more component needs to be added in order to make this into a music server -- and that is the audio card. Goodwin's High End has tested the Lynx AES16 and is recommending it be utilized as the audio card in order to create a music server that can output a very low-jitter digital audio signal via AES-EBU. The supported sample rates include: 44.1, 48. 88.2, 96, 176.4, & 192kHz at 16, 20, or 24 bits. By contacting Goodwin's High End you can purchase this audio card for either professional or self-installation.
If you decide to have Goodwin's High End install the AES16 card professionally, we can ship your system to their store. From there, Goodwin's High End will install the Lynx Station AES16 audio card, test your system (again) to make sure that everything is working perfectly and ship to your door. By choosing self-installation, you can be sent the card to install yourself.
We recommend having Goodwin's High End install this card. Not only will there be no chance of incorrectly installing the card and the requisite drivers, but their testing will make sure that everything is properly set up in terms of software configuration so the music server will output the best quality digital signal possible. You can also pick up a lot of great audio products for your audio system from them. Aside from a high end outboard DAC (digital to analog converter) which will interface well with the output of the music server, they also have a wide variety of products including speakers, room treatments, turntables, and more!

Lynx Studio Technology AES16 Audio Card
The Lynx Studio Technology AES16 multi-channel interface is the ideal way to integrate digital consoles, multi-channel A/D and D/A converters, and hard disk recorders with computer-based workstations. Using exclusive SynchroLock technology, jitter is eliminated for the purest conversions possible, and the AES16 supports sample-rates up to 192kHz. Large, on-board buffers ensure glitch-free recording and playback, aided by an extremely efficient zero-wait state DMA engine. These features provide tolerance to system latencies and significantly reduce load on the host CPU. The AES16 is a great centerpiece of a digital studio.
