This 2TB quiet hard drive is a Western Digital Caviar Green series quiet hard drive. Western Digital Green series hard drives are the quietest hard drives available with moving platters.
The WD20EARX 2TB Quiet Hard Drive is a 6 Gb/s SATA hard drive with truly silent acoustics of 24 dB for idle mode, 25 dB for quiet seek mode, and 29 dB for performance seek mode. This 2TB quiet hard drive ( WD20EAX ) uses IntelliPower variable rotational speed which varies between 5400 RPM and 7200 RPM.
