Quiet Hard Drives

When it comes to noise, not all hard drives are created equal. We have carefully chosen a selection of the world's quietest and most reliable hard drives.

Very Quiet Our Western Digital Blue Series silent hard drives are very quiet, while performing at Sata III (6Gb/s) speeds. These are our standard quiet hard drives.

Extremely Quiet Our Western Digital Green Series quiet hard drive drives are extremely quiet, but are a little slower than Western Digital Blue series silent hard drives. Green Series drives are generally used for large data storage drives, or for extreme silence with a reasonable pricetag.

Absolute silence For absolutely silent drive operation, with extremely fast speeds, a solid state drive (SSD) is the best option. Unlike a standard hard drive, SSDs have no moving parts. They don't make any noise. Solid State Drives are much faster than a standard hard drive, and are much more reliable. In general for SSDs we recommend Intel, since they have been making rock solid SSDs for years, and their 510 series of SATA III SSDs are fantastic.
