Our MusicMaker™ Rackmount i5 (LGA 1155) Music Production PC is a workhorse DAW PC built with maximum speed, connectivity, and silence in mind. The i5 Music Production PC is one of the only DAW PCs on the market sporting the new Thunderbolt technology, which has ridiculously fast throughput for recording to external drives, and eventually via Thunderbolt based sound devices similar to 1394 Firewire or USB3.

The 4U i5 MusicMaker™ features Motu's fantastic and extremely expandable line of PCIe based professional sound devices (using the PCIe-424 card) ranging from anywhere between 8-96 Channels of 24bit 96KHz audio, or 12-48 channels of 192kHz audio. We also include a TI Chipset based 1394 card for anyone who would like to use an external sound device.

Every single item in our DAW PCs (not just a select few) is geared to produce a completely silent work environment for audio recording. This silent environment is imperative when it comes to recording with an absolutely dry signal for cleaner mixes. A clean recording requires the added attention to silence that we bring to the picture, because you want to hear all of the beautiful details of your audio, and the last thing you want to hear in your recordings is your computer!

Quiet Hard Drives Every DAW (digital audio workstation) comes defaulted with some of the most silent hard drive options available. Additionally, for those of you requiring more silence, our systems include an option for the Smart Drive Neo hard drive enclosure, which further silences your hard drive without raising its temperature. Or if you are looking for total silence choose an SSD! Solid-state drives (SSD) have no moving parts, so they make no noise, have blazing fast read times, and are more reliable than standard mechanical hard drives.
